New Jersey Vocational Assembly

Past RI President T. A. Warren once stated that “the only unique feature of Rotary is vocational service. Everything else that we do is repeated by some other organization.”

Past RI Director and Treasurer Carmine Torsiello of District 7490 and Past District Governor Bob Pityo of District 7470 inaugurated the Vocational Assembly 29 years ago to afford us the unique opportunity to join our fellow Rotarians throughout the state to celebrate vocational service and recognize one member from each district for his/her outstanding vocational service.

In all the world, Rotary is very unique and different from other service organizations, in its commitment to vocational service as one of its avenues of giving back to society. Whippany, NJ, it was in the 1970's. We attracted a gathering of over 1100 attendees. Amazing!

Today, New Jersey is the only place in the world still conducting a Vocational Assembly. The five districts in New Jersey ban together to produce an annual program consisting of Rotary leaders, local businessmen and women and local celebrities who have demonstrated exceptional vocational service in their professional lives.

Hopefully through the dedication and hard work of many Rotarians, we will continue to recognize deserving individuals for their exceptional vocational service to the communities for many years to come.

Please invite your family and friends to join you at this year’s gala event on October 5 at 3 p.m. at the Birchwood Manor. Tickets cost only $55 and include your dinner choice of prime rib, chicken francaise, salmon or a vegetarian platter. Club reservations should be sent to the district chairpersons with the club’s check payable to the district.
